Call for Participants

This summer, Mile Zero Dance (MZD) Artistic Director Gerry Morita is planning a site specific dance/music installation for outdoors, called “Dream Parade”.

Seeking 5-25 people who can perform for an extended and sustained amount of time (1-2 hrs). People of ALL types are encouraged to participate, although a certain number of dancers, musicians, clowns, or actors will be needed.

The first part of the piece will be a rendition of Pina Bausch’sfamous Nelken Line, which is a gorgeous single file walk that is performed globally.

The second part of the piece will transform into a more butoh-inspired parade with music and each person assuming their own roles; meanwhile, the parade moves through the city/park/designated zone.

MZD is seeking people who can be available for 2 hours of rehearsal in addition to the performance. Musicians must be able to walk while playing. The initial performance will occur at Heart of the City Festival, June 2-3 at Giovanni Caboto Park.

For questions or to participate in this project, please contact Gerry at info@milezerodance.com. Deadline is Friday, May 25.
