The Zero Gravity International Performance Art SUMMIT is a ten-day visual performance art event, bringing together a cutting-edge array of International and Canadian performance artists. The SUMMIT, produced by Mile Zero Dance (co-presenters: Latitude 53 and dc3 Art Projects) and curated by Beau Coleman, takes place in two parts:

Part I: Zero Gravity Performance Art WORKSHOP
May 10 – 17, 2019

This eight-day International Performance Art Workshop, co-facilitated by Beau Coleman (Canada), Dagmar I. Glausnitzer-Smith (Germany), Francesco Kiais (Italy – Greece), PASHIAS (Cyprus), and Alexandra Zierle (Germany – UK), offers an exclusive and intense access into the working processes of five internationally-established performance artists.

Participants will experience an array of methodologies and approaches to performance art, whilst being actively encouraged to delve into new and unchartered territory. The workshop includes solo and group exercises within an intensive, experimental and experiential context. Each participant will receive 1-to-1 mentoring during the development of their own original performance art work, that will be presented to the public on May 16th, as part of the Zero Gravity International Performance Art FESTIVAL (May 16th – 19th), with a final workshop session held on the morning of May 17th. Workshop participants will receive documentation of their work.

We welcome applications from both established and emerging performance artists, as well as artists from other disciplines and non-artists, who have an interest in performance art. We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis), ethnically-diverse, deaf, disabled or LGBTQ2S+. All levels welcome to apply. See Zero Gravity Performance Art WORKSHOP.

Part II: Zero Gravity International Performance Art FESTIVAL
May 16 – 19, 2019

A four-day festival presenting the work of established and emerging performance artists from around the world and here at home.

The Zero Gravity International Performance Art FESTIVAL includes both indoor and site-specific performances, as well as artist talks, panels and discussions.  In these dangerous times we live in, the FESTIVAL asks how art can rise above it all and allow us to think in new and creative ways; not only as a means of escape, but as a call to action?  What do performance artists have to say about the ‘gravity’ of the world?
