Roseanna Joy Nay is an artist and third generation farmer originating from Fallis, Alberta. They are practicing on Treaty 6 Territory. Roseanna graduated with a BFA from the University of Alberta in 2018. They are currently working at the Art Gallery of St.Albert in the position of Program Assistant. Their work focuses on performance; through means of sculpture, textile creation, video and film photography.
They are looking at how formative personal narratives endure and cross-over from past to present, ultimately projecting themselves into our future
through day-to-day objects and interactions. The resulting ephemera are accompaniments to the act of remembering through familiar objects.
They are handling concepts of queerness through their own queer identity as well as respectfully looking to a history of queer people in rural Canada, specifically the prairies.
