Mile Zero Dance (MZD) is a dance-based arts non-profit organization based out of Edmonton, Canada, and is a member of the CanDance Network of presenters, the Alberta Dance Alliance, and Theatre Alberta. Since 1985 we have been devoted to the creation, training, and presentation of contemporary dance, and moved into producing complete seasons of artistic works in 2005.
We are honoured to work in Treaty Six territory, which has been safeguarded by the Cree, Nakota, Blackfoot, Dene, Metis, and other Indigenous groups who prospered here before settlers arrived, and continue to make Edmonton a rich and generous place to live and work. Mile Zero Dance offers performance and in person or virtual class programming to meet the needs of our community organizations and inner city schools.
Mile Zero Dance supports the creation, and engagement with contemporary dance through education, and the presentation of original, dynamic, interdisciplinary performances.
Through experimentation and risk taking, we aim to be a responsive centre for experiencing contemporary performance practices in our communities within Alberta and beyond.
Mile Zero Dance values the creative process including failure. We value innovation and seek to develop dance practices and dance audiences. We continually engage new collaborators from diverse performance communities and artistic traditions. We value paying artists for their work
