ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Fascinated with the human body communicating through movement, Raena celebrates 26 years as a dancer, choreographer and movement instructor in Edmonton. Over the course of two decades, she has premiered 18 short and full-length works presented across western Canada. Her curiosity surrounding dance adjacent practice led her to certifications in Pilates, Garuda, Yin Yoga and Myofascial Release, studying with mentors such as James D’Silva, Melanie Checknita, and Tracy Friesen. She instructs contemporary dance and dance-derived movement practices for dancers in partnership with Mile Zero Dance and Good Women Dance and for non-dancers alike at public recreation facilities through the city of Edmonton. Her creative philosophy is rooted in a trinity of listening, considering and trying: Listening deeply to what is being shared, considering all possibilities, and embodying ideas through movement without clinging to permanence. More details on Raena’s history and offerings can be explored here:www.raenawaddell.ca.
